Long Son, a familiar but strange land.
Long Son is a land that belong to Vung Tau City and depend on local map, it is an island, far from National Road No 51 in the direction of Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria – Vung Tau is about 7 kilometres. In the old days, Long Son was a fallow land and it was compulsory for us to use ferry if we want to go there. It was also a difficult way because we had to depend on tide for crossing the river easily. My father told me about that when he knows my writing about this familiar but strange land. The reason I think it’s so strange is simply that actually I’ve known about Long Son and set foot on this land recently. My friends are as same as me.It seems that this land is a something strange. I assert that because when I put the name of this land on a crossword puzzle by a question “Name of an island belong to Vung Tau City?”, my friend is at a loss how to answer. Many people give an equivocal answer “It is Long Dat!” We can explain that it is because of lacking updating information in my country, a remote district in province. ...
